No, I'm not off my rocker. In Taiwan, Father's Day is celebrated on August 8. The Mandarin word for "eight," bā, when repeated, becomes a homonym of the word for father, bàba.
My husband happens to have his birthday today, and thus enjoys a double honor every year. Alas, I, with a birthday in mid-May, can justify such a dual celebration only occasionally.
