Haydn würde verstehen

During my orchestra's rehearsal of Haydn's Symphony No. 73 last night, the conductor stopped us in the middle of the third movement, the Minuet. He didn't like the way the cellos were playing the first beat. "It's too...something. It's not too loud, it's something, something about the timbre. Too..."

The principal cellist volunteered, "Too German?"

"Yes, too German! That's it!"
